SCRAPERBOARD: MUSICAL INSTRUMENT OR JELLYFISH DESIGN – Term 2 Workpack 1
SCRAPERBOARD
Start off the term with this exciting scraperboard project!
Using scraperboard effectively and getting the best results can be a challenge. We have put together a WORKPACK that will guide the teacher in selecting the best product and techniques to achieve a rewarding result.
The Teacher’s guides include lots of tried and tested tips on design creation and design transfer. The methods are laid out in an easy-to-follow format.
We’ve tested the pros and cons of home-made versus purchased scraperboard so you don’t have to use valuable time doing the research yourself.
The Teacher’s guides offer a choice of two design ideas: an abstract design of musical instruments ideally suited to home-made scraperboard, and a more realistic jellyfish project using commercial scraperboard.
A set of three work-area templates are included as a time-saver.
A PowerPoint presentation: “Cutting through the Dark – Scraperboard Art” provides further information on this interesting medium and illustrates some of the techniques used in creating pictures.
“Scratching, Scraping and Incising – the Art of Engraving and Intaglio Printing” is a PowerPoint presentation on the background and history of printmaking.
